Spinels

Sri Lanka is the major historical source for natural Spinels along with Burma. Ceylon Spinels come in an array of gently muted colors such as rose, mauve, and violet. There are some deep teal blues too. They are becoming very difficult to find in Sri Lanka these days while interest in them seems to be growing!
